GoDaddy Tips, Gotcha's, and Workarounds

For their mySQL databases, the database name and the username are the same.

When using a .htaccess file, their website says that when creating the file initially, it can take up to an hour before their system recognizes it.  And that when editing it, the changes are recognized immediately.  Sometimes it doesn't seem very immediate.

When using fuseFTP, downloading works but uploading doesn't  (creates zero-length file, that's all).

If you are unable to delete a  file using FTP, SSH, or fuseFTP or fuseSSH, the only way to delete it is through their web-based file manager.

Moving from their regular webserver to their SSH-enabled webserver can be a 3-day process.  Don't do any edits during this time as they may be lost and unrecoverable.

Even creating a mySQL database can make you wait a while (10+ minutes) for the message "Pending Setup" to be removed, after which time your mySQL-enabled site will finally be able to see the database.
